Spring Into the Season at The Grove at Oakleaf Village of Sylvania

Schedule a Visit

Spring has a way of waking everything up. The days stretch a little longer, the weather invites people outside and the calendar fills with reasons to gather. In senior living communities, that seasonal shift brings something especially welcome: more things to do!

The rhythms of the season can shape what daily life feels like for our residents. And if you’re exploring senior living, these details can give you a real feel for daily life here.

Why Seasonal Activities Matter

There is value in the way a well-planned calendar moves through the year. At The Grove at Oakleaf Village of Sylvania, our activities team strives to create daily life that feels full, social and connected for residents. This is their home, after all!

Research backs this up. The National Institute on Aging identifies physical activity as one of the most important things older adults can do for healthy aging, and it doesn’t have to mean anything strenuous. Gentle movement like walking, chair yoga, group exercise or dancing counts. What does matter is that it happens regularly and feels enjoyable enough to keep showing up for.

Group activities can become bridges to real friendships and living your best life in an environment designed for you.

Spring Into Celebration

At The Grove, there’s so much to celebrate in spring—St. Patrick’s Day, Easter and the return of warmer weather. Seasonal holidays become shared experiences, complete with themed treats, music, trivia and plenty of laughs.

Some recent highlights from across our Wallick Senior Living communities include:

  • March Madness brackets and basketball trivia
  • Spring scenic drives
  • Themed tastings like crockpot Irish dishes and Oreo cheesecake bites
  • Easter Egg Hunt prep with 900+ eggs to stuff

Spring Into Creativity

Spring also brings color and inspiration into community life. Ever wish you could pick up a new hobby or skill?

Creative opportunities are a regular part of our calendars. Arts-based activities can both support cognitive health and reduce stress, and our residents genuinely look forward to them.

Just this month, our Wallick Senior Living communities hosted seasonal crafts, painting, baking, flower-themed projects and hands-on activities that gave our residents a chance to relax and learn something new.

Spring Into Connection

The Grove weaves connection into the day, whether it’s shared meals or everyday conversations over coffee.

Social connection is one of the most important factors in healthy aging. The CDC has found that social isolation among older adults is linked to increased risk of heart disease, depression and cognitive decline.

Senior living is uniquely designed around daily opportunities to be social, to share experiences and to belong somewhere. Wallick Senior Living residents have a full calendar, familiar faces and friends who are happy to see them at dinner.

In spring, there’s even more opportunity to enjoy company, on the patio, in the garden or on a walk with a neighbor.

A Glimpse at Our Sister Community, Oakleaf Village

Our senior living campus was buzzing with activity! Here’s a glimpse at our partner community, Oakleaf Village of Sylvania.

Oakleaf residents celebrated St. Patrick’s Day with trivia, live music, cupcakes, green beads, leprechaun lemonade and an Irish sing-along. We also welcomed bunny visitors for pet therapy, held a monthly birthday party and marked Pi Day with pie.

Just a regular month at one of our Sylvania senior living communities, and a great snapshot of what life can look like!

This is What Life Can Look Like

Seasonal activities are only one part of daily life at The Grove. Our memory care residents always have opportunities to stay engaged, connected and part of a community that feels like home.
